Gifts for your Valentine

Saint Valentine’s Day is this Friday 14th February. Love this celebration or loathe it, there is something undeniably romantic about handmade pottery - isn’t there? I’ve selected a few gifts from our shop I think would be lovely for the occasion.

This piece has become on of our most popular things we make - I think because it works so well but also functions as a beautiful object when not in use. To use, add a tealight, water to the lid and a few drops of essential oil and within ten minutes the room will be fragrant.

This is a relatively new mug shape and it is perfect for milky coffees or hot chocolate. It’s a very comforting shape and elegant too.

Spring is almost here but the days are still dark and made so much cosier with the addition of candles.

The easiest way to arrange stems - this piece can be used as a traditional vase without the lid, or as a flower frog with the lid. Simply add stems for an easy floral display.

A gift for a potter, or aspiring potter. Our book is full of practical advice on designing and making tableware at the wheel. Richly illustrated with over 300 photos and with detailed step-by-step sequences, it celebrates the slow-nature of making by hand and explains how to make consistent pieces that add joy and meaning to the table.

The dinner bowl is our best seller, and for a reason - it is really useful and elevates every meal. A romantic gift for a foodie…

A very elegant form with a beautiful shino type glaze. Add a kenzan flower frog and flowers to create a romantic arrangement.

At the moment we have in stock a range of complete one-offs, reduction fired in the gas kiln. The lidded jars in shino are statement pieces with lots of variation in the glaze - this piece almost glitters with iron flecks from the clay.

Made to order tableware is a fancy gift. We send our glaze swatches out to the recipient so they can choose their colours, whilst we get throwing. It takes about 8 weeks.
